Tay Phuong Pagoda, also known as Sung Phuc Pagoda, built in the 8th century and has been renovated several times since. It consists of three single-level structures built in descending order on a hillock said to resemble a buffalo.
Thay Pagoda is about 30km southwest of Hanoi. It is built in the 11th century during the reign of King Ly Nhan Tong, Thay Pagoda consists of three sections: the outer part for offerings and ceremonies, the middle part for worship of Buddha and the inner part for worship of the monk Tu Dao Hanh, the master after whom the pagoda is named. In front of the pagoda is a small stage built on stilt in the middle of Long Tri Pond. It is the place where water puppet performances are held during festivals from the fifth until the seventh days of the third lunar month.
