The Hanoi Tirant Hotel

Tirant Hotel has been welcoming guests since early 2011. Conveniently located on Gia Ngu Street—meaning “Fish Village” in Vietnamese—our neighborhood was once home to generations of fishermen and their families. In the 1800s, the central pond in this area was filled in to create a new road, which went through several different names before finally becoming Gia Ngu Street. During the French colonial period, the street was at one time called Tirant (pronounced “Tai-rang”), in honor of a French general. Wanting a name that is both memorable and deeply rooted in local history, we chose this evocative piece of the past for our hotel: Tirant Hotel.
